Smallfoot (2018) - Movie Review


The plot: Migo (Channing Tatum) lives in a mountain village with the rest of his Yeti tribe, but after a mysterious metallic vessel lands on the island, he comes face-to-face with a creature he had only heard about in legend: The Smallfoot. Said Smallfoot, struggling TV personality Percy (James Corden), is also aghast that he has discovered a creature that he didn't even know existed. However, as their paths converge and their respective societies react to the other's existence, it seems that things are only going to get stranger from here.

Johnny English Strikes Again (2018) - Movie Review


The plot: The database of MI7 has been hacked, compromising the identities of every active agent in the organisation. Left with no other alternative, the British Prime Minister (Emma Thompson) brings in retired agent and now school teacher Johnny English (Rowan Atkinson). With the aid of his partner Bough (Ben Miller), Johnny sets out to find out who was behind the hack, finding trails that lead him to the mysterious Ophelia (Olga Kurylenko) and technology magnate Jason Volta (Jake Lacy). Shame he's still a little too dense to realize that.

I Am Paul Walker (2018) - Movie Review


The plot (such as it is): Born in Glendale, California, Paul Walker IV was known as a thrill-seeker, an oddball and a heartthrob. He went from acting in bit parts in his youth to being the lead in one of the most high-profile action franchises in modern cinema. Through interviews with those closest to him, we see a deeper picture of the man, who he is, why he did the things he did and, ultimately, how he has been remembered since his passing.

The Predator (2018) - Movie Review


The plot: While on a mission, sniper Quinn McKenna (Boyd Holbrook) sees an alien ship craft-land on Earth. After he is shuffled off to a military prison bus to keep him quiet about his discovery, biologist Dr. Casey Bracket (Olivia Munn) examines the body retrieved from the ship... and it escapes from the facility. Quinn will have to team up with Casey as well as the other soldiers on the bus in order to stop this Predator from turning the human race into game.

But maybe he hasn't changed that much after all.

From his close friends to his deepest rivals, we are shown how this Aussie kid became a national icon, not just in sports but in Aussie culture at large.

The Nun (2018) - Movie Review


The plot: At a monastery in Romania, a nun has been found dead from an apparent suicide. Wanting to find out what exactly happened, and to make sure that this incident has defiled the sacred ground of the monastery, the Vatican sends Father Burke (Demián Bichir) and novitiate Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) to investigate. As they search the monastery and the surrounding area for clues, with the help of local farmer Frenchie (Jonas Bloquet), they discover something truly evil hiding within.

Of course, if he doesn't keep things under control and out of the way of the neighbours, he may not be in town long enough for that to matter.

The plot: Struggling chef Ronnie (Emily Taheny) gets a call from famous actor Henry (Eddie Izzard), one of her former employers, that he and his girlfriend Sophie (Vanessa Guide) will be in Sydney for a screening of his new film and if they wanted to catch up. Ronnie's boyfriend Jeff (Luke McKenzie) agrees and, as the four start to catch up, Ronnie struggles with telling Jeff that Henry not only used to be her lover, but that they might still have romantic feelings for each other.

Slender Man (2018) - Movie Review


The plot: Best friends Wren (Joey King), Hallie (Julia Goldani Telles), Chloe (Jaz Sinclair) and Katie (Annalise Basso), while searching the Internet, find a mysterious video that features images of a figure described in forums as 'The Slender Man'. A week after watching the video, Katie disappears and the other three realise that they did more than just watch a video: They actually summoned the Slender Man. As they try and find a way to get her back, the increasingly violent visions they keep seeing indicate that the Slender Man is much closer than they thought... and if they aren't careful, they could be his next victims.
