Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse (2023) - Movie Review

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse changed the modern animation industry to the point where, when looking at the whole thing historically, you could reasonably split the timeline into pre- and post-Spider-Verse. It represented an approach to animation where anything and everything was permitted and encouraged, leading to many others that would take cues from its eclectic and chaotic visual style (The Mitchells Vs. The Machines, Entergalactic, Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, just to name a few), and for an IP with many different media iterations already, it still managed to stand as one of if not the best yet.

Klaus (2019) - Movie Review

https://www.greaterthan.org/

This film, an animated Netflix-exclusive release, is the product of an alternate reality. A reality as gleamed at by writer/director Sergio Pablos, an animator who assisted in some of Disney’s later Renaissance efforts and the man behind the source material for last year’s Smallfoot. It is a reality where, instead of CGI becoming the standard, traditional animation continued to be the norm. I am no nearly well-versed enough in multiverse theory to even attempt to figure out how to see this reality for myself, but if the films of that timeline looks half as good as this, then hot damn, we’ve been missing out.

The Polka King (2018) - Movie Review

The plot: Polish-born Jan Lewan (Jack Black) is a polka bandleader with quite the following in his home of Pennsylvania. In fact, his fans believe in him so much that they are willing to invest thousands of dollars into his numerous business, not the least of which being his music. However, it seems that his business dealings aren’t entirely on the up-and-up, as he soon finds himself under investigation for financial fraud. Will Jan have to face his actions or will he go on to take the stage once again?
