The plot: Amy (Oona Laurence), a
student of a Virginian girls school during the American Civil War, comes across
a wounded Union soldier in the woods surrounding the school. Amy brings the
soldier, named Corporal McBurney (Colin Farrell), to the school where the
headmistress Martha (Nicole Kidman) agrees to bring him in and get him better.
However, with Confederate soldiers frequently marching outside their gates, and
the girls at the school not being sure how much they can trust the Corporal,
they may have to come to a difficult decision about what to do with him.

Bushwick (2017) - Movie Review
The plot: When Lucy (Brittany Snow) steps off the subway
into Bushwick, New York, she unknowingly enters a war zone. A new civil war has
broken out, with unknown military factions fighting on the streets, chaos and
gunfire turning what was once home into a battleground. After being rescued by
ex-Marine Stupe (Dave Bautista), Lucy sets out to find her family and,
hopefully, make it to the demilitarized zone and escape this carnage.

Meta Month: Catch-Up Part 4: Angry Video Game Nerd, Bennett The Sage and Linkara (2017)
Well, this month hasn’t gone quite as I expected. In lieu of
a lengthy pity party for one (you know, the kind of shit I tend to write on
here too much as it is), I’ll just leave it how, by both design and unfortunate
accident, this month isn’t nearly as in-depth as last year’s. Just to be clear,
the videos I’ve highlighted so far are just the ones I happened to watch over
the last year; this is by no means definitive. Still, these are people I feel
are worth lauding over, so let’s get this all wrapped up with the final part of
this year’s Meta Month catch-up.

Free State Of Jones (2016) - Movie Review
This is going to be a very, very short review. While I could just use the Christmas season as
my excuse for not wanting to focus too much on such bleak notions as slavery,
and admittedly the year has been depressing enough without needing to actively
look for reasons to make it worse, it really just boils down to me not having
as much to say about this film as I would have liked. My 12 Years A Slave
review should show that I’m not the most articulate person when it comes to
this subject, and what little reserves I have were spent writing about 13thearlier this month. As such, I’m just going to get right into this in a rather
informal fashion.
