Well, this month hasn’t gone quite as I expected. In lieu of
a lengthy pity party for one (you know, the kind of shit I tend to write on
here too much as it is), I’ll just leave it how, by both design and unfortunate
accident, this month isn’t nearly as in-depth as last year’s. Just to be clear,
the videos I’ve highlighted so far are just the ones I happened to watch over
the last year; this is by no means definitive. Still, these are people I feel
are worth lauding over, so let’s get this all wrapped up with the final part of
this year’s Meta Month catch-up.

The Angry Video Game Nerd Movie (2014) - Movie Review
After a show has been running for long enough, whether it’s
from the fans or from the creators themselves, the idea of turning it into a
movie will always crop up eventually. Take, for instance, the Simpsons Movie
which had had been the development/rumour-driven stage for over a decade before
it saw the light of release to a wide opinion of “Eh, it was alright.” There
are plenty of approaches that can be taken translating from small to big
screen. You could make it just an extended version of a standard episode, only
with a bigger budget. This can work well in translating from one medium in
another by keeping the series content intact, like with the Mystery Science
Theatre 3000 movie, or it can bore audiences to death because it utilises a
plot that has to be stretched to all
hell to make it feature-length, like with Star Trek: The Motion Picture. This
film, on the other hand… well, the show itself doesn’t have that much of an
overarching plot to build on so it can’t really go with the straight
translation route. I don’t even think there is a specific name for the route that
this film took with its writing and, if I’m being honest, it’s a film I’m still
trying to figure out even after having seen it. Why? Well, let’s get started
and I’ll show you.

Top 20 Angry Video Game Nerd Episodes
Even though the history of film criticism
as a whole crosses so many continents and ideals and theories that it would
take far too long to sum it all up in a single post, how exists within the
realms of YouTube is, surprisingly, really easy to pin down. I say this because
it basically all comes back to the one I’m talking about today: The man who
decided to craft a several-year-long joke about just how seriously a person can
take it when a video game is… less than pristine, let’s say. Even amongst his contemporaries,
you can see the influence of this vitriolic foul-mouthed guy with a Jersey
accent in their work. So, since this is my dedication to my critical
influences, it’d be ridiculous if I didn’t highlight the grandfather of the
modern video review. These are my picks for the Top 20 episodes of the Angry
Video Game Nerd.
