Top 11 Biggest Disappointments (2016)

Happy 2017 everyone! New year, new crop of films, same old dickhead set to talk about them, and in light of how the new year is where we’re supposed to do things differently than the year prior, I’m going to do something a little different with my year-end lists. I’m going to go over the films that were legitimately surprising in terms of quality, for good and for bad. What films in 2016 did I leave the cinema having gotten a lot more (or a lot less) than I was expecting? Well, time to find out. Now, this isn’t necessarily a list of the year’s worst; I actually still like some of these to a degree. It’s just a list of films from the year that didn't deliver to my personal expectations. This is my list of the Top 11 biggest disappointments from 2016… and chances are that a lot of you are going to hate my #11 pick.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows (2016) - Movie Review

https://redribbonreviewers.wordpress.com/
At the beginning of last year, I briefly talked about the 2014 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie… and how I honestly liked it while the rest of the world seemingly didn’t. And you know what, after watching it again fairly recent in preparation for this review, I stand by it. I don’t have the greatest personal connection with the franchise, only watching a couple episodes of the original cartoon and the Kevin Munroe TMNT film, but from what I understand of the series ethos, this seemed alright. It’s not great, don’t get me wrong; there are plenty of comedic dead spots, the CGI takes a bit of getting used to (although, again, I have no real issue with it) and there is a very definite feeling that the filmmakers weren’t sure of how seriously to take the idea of large humanoid turtles as the main characters. But, considering how badly Platinum Dunes had done up to that point with pre-existing material, it was a decent watch. Hell, I am probably one of the few people on Earth who honestly wanted this sequel to happen. All aboard the karma train.

Top 20 Phelous Episodes

This guy might be one of the biggest trolls in the Internet reviewing game, to the point where he has kind of made a running joke out of he tried tricking the audience into thinking his show was ending… and yeah, some of us fell for it. But, with that said, this guy kind of shows the more positive side of trolling; you know, where it only goes into the realms of goofy fun and doesn’t reach the point of teeth-grinding hatefulness that some others do (*cough*Dramatica*cough*). So, in tribute to one of the most entertainingly lethargic presences on the Internet, here are my picks for the 20 best episodes of Phelous… or Phelous And The Movies… or Phelous Filmio Films… or that show with no name. See what I mean about messing with audiences?
